Welsh Hilltops

For our twentieth Firefly Christmas Book Advent, Wendy Meddour, author of Dottie Blanket and the Hilltop, tells us about the inspiration behind her book.

This is where Wendy Meddour lived when she was little. She says that these were the hilltops that inspired her and her daughter (Mina May's) book: Dottie Blanket and the Hilltop. (The one that won second place in the Tir na N-Og).

Here's Mina May (the illustrator) and Dottie Blanket at their first art exhibition.
And here's Wendy thinking about what to write next on a slightly damp Welsh hilltop.
Wales might be a small country, but it's full of talented writers and artists. Perhaps it's the hilltops that inspire? Along with some other wonderful books, Wendy's The Glump and the Peeble has just been picked as one of the best Welsh picture books of 2017 by Family Book Worms. Wendy says she has the Welsh hilltops to thank.
Where do you go to write? Do Welsh hilltops inspire you?
