Calling all young artists!

White Petals illustration competition

We are looking for original artwork from artists aged 11-18 living in the UK to appear as chapter headings in the young adult novel White Petals by Maria Grace. White Petals is an unforgettable story about friendship and family set in and around a valley’s care home and school, and will be published in June 2015.

The Book:

Illustrator Peter Stevenson, who has illustrated Arthur and Me tells us about his version of Merlin:

Arthur and Me by Sarah Todd Taylor is the story of Tomos, who wakes up the sleeping King Arthur and his knights. They tell Tomos the real stories about Camelot, including stories of Merlin, where nothing is the same as his teachers described it...

Heroes, Castles and Chickens

On publication day of Arthur and Me, Sarah Todd Taylor writes a blog post for us on what inspired her first book - the hilarious winner of the Firefly Children's Book Prize 2014.

Kat Ellis at YALC

I’m taking over the Firefly Press site today to talk about something exciting – namely YALC! Yes, that’s right - the first ever literary convention in the UK to focus on young adult literature, and I’ll be there on 12th & 13th July.

Hay Fever

There’s so much happening at Hay this week.  Here’s the children’s and YA programme.

King Arthur runs off with first prize!

Who would have thought that a rather moody King Arthur would run off with the first-ever Firefly Children’s Books Prize 2014?

When we asked for twenty-first century stories set in Wales, we didn’t expect Arthur to turn up. But we’re very pleased he did.
